Spring 2006 – ‘Recipes for self-healing’ weekend workshop with Daverick Leggett

This workshop is open to TCM practitioners, students and those with an interest in using food energetics to help redress imbalances

Cost including a vegetarian, organic, locally sourced lunch * refreshments and snacks through out the day: £135

The weekend will be both a presentation of Chinese Medicines understanding of nutrition and a chance to put what we have learned into practice with a communal ‘cooking in the barn’ session on the second day! Locally grown and organic foods will be available to experiment with but if you have any of your own favorite ingredients why not bring them along.

TCM and food energetics

There is so much dietary information, and misinformation, available today that even the most food-literate among us are often deeply confused about what to eat. What is a truly healthy choice? How can we resolve contradictory messages about food, or avoid being misled by our personal neuroses and the manipulation of advertising?

Chinese medicine offers a way through the maze. From the viewpoint of traditional Chinese medicine there is no such thing as the universally healthy diet. What works for one person may not work for another. There are no "good" or "bad" foods, only foods possessing certain energies or qualities, and the ultimate authority about what is good for us rests in our own bodies.

What are the pre-requisites for this workshop?

This workshop will be of interest to practitioners and students of TCM. If you have recently visited a practitioner of TCM for Acupuncture, Chinese herbs or Shiatsu you may like to come along to this work shop to get a more detailed incite into how you can ‘tweak’ your diet to help support any patterns of disharmony that may have been diagnosed.

What can you expect from this workshop?

This weekend will be both a presentation of Chinese Medicine’s understanding of nutrition and a chance to directly experience in our bodies the principles on which it is based.

We will work together on Sunday to prepare dishes that will directly support specific disharmonies. We will have the chance to devise, cook and eat recipes based on the principles learned during the course. Participants can expect to acquire practical insights for working with themselves or with clients, as well as new ideas and inspiration for their own kitchen.
